CEDAR PARK, Texas. (February 13, 2025)– Cedar Park Regional Medical Center proudly hosted the fourth annual Women & Heart Luncheon, bringing together community members, healthcare professionals, and heart health advocates for an afternoon of education, empowerment, and inspiration.
The event, held at ParqSocial, focused on raising awareness about heart disease—the leading cause of death among women—and providing valuable information on prevention, stress management, and heart-healthy living. Attendees had the opportunity to hear from two distinguished speakers: Dr. Carl Carlino, a board-certified cardiologist with over two decades of experience, who shared insights into cardiovascular care and prevention, and Melody Afkami, CEO, and founder of Melody DanceFit, who highlighted the power of movement in promoting mental and physical well-being.
“We are honored to host this important event and bring attention to the impact of heart disease on women in our community,” said Barbara Watson, chief nursing officer at Cedar Park Regional Medical Center. “By providing education and encouraging open conversations, we hope to empower women to take charge of their heart health and make informed decisions for themselves and their loved ones.”
In addition to knowledgeable discussions, the event featured a heart-healthy lunch, a series of raffle prizes generously donated by local businesses, and a special proclamation recognizing February as Heart Month presented by Councilwoman Anne Duffey.
Cedar Park Regional Medical Center remains committed to advancing women’s health initiatives and providing the highest quality cardiovascular care to the community. The hospital encourages women to schedule regular check-ups, know their risk factors, and adopt heart-healthy habits to reduce their chances of heart disease.
