Cedar Park Regional Emergency Center Opens in Leander to Provide Accessible, Quality Emergent Care for Citizens
4/12/2016
On March 22, 2016, Cedar Park Regional Emergency Center (CPREC) opened its doors as Leander’s first emergency center. The Center is staffed with specialized Emergency physicians and nurses and has 9 ER beds to provide care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergent medical conditions. CPREC offers the same diagnostic equipment and full-service lab found in most emergency rooms.
According to Brad Holland, Chief Executive Officer, “I am very excited to open the Emergency Center to provide faster access to care for residents of Leander and surrounding communities. In planning the Center, we chose the ideal location that is close to many of the communities we serve. Our team of emergency doctors and nurses provides compassionate, family-centered care. As the name Cedar Park Regional Medical Center implies, we are truly dedicated to meeting the healthcare needs of our region.”
CPREC is a department of Cedar Park Regional Medical Center (CPRMC). If patients need to be admitted to the hospital, require surgery or cath lab interventions, we stabilize them then transport them via ambulance to CPRMC. We have the support of CPRMC for inpatient and critical care services.
Emergency centers are different than urgent care centers in that they are open 24/7 and can treat patients with emergent conditions such as heart attacks, compound fractures, respiratory distress and other life threatening conditions.
Dr. David Lim, Assistant Medical Director of CPREC states, “Urgent care facilities may be staffed by non- ER trained physicians. Another difference is that we have CT capability to make more critical decisions in the ER. This may not be available in urgent care centers. We are proud to be an emergency branch of the hospital and provide more support for Leander. “
